thank you for commenting about the help you're one of the few movie blogs I've seen do that
oh wow thank you! It’s just frustrating that The Help is considered all “progressive” in the eyes of Hollywood when there are movies like Pariah that came out in 2011 that got almost no recognition.

So, I’m gonna go ahead and risk losing A LOT of followers here… The Birth of a Nation is racist as balls, but The Help is racist for its time. In 2011. The Help is basically just a movie to make white people feel better about themselves.
Melissa Harris Perry (who was on the Colbert Report a few weeks ago I believe) pretty much explains all the issues with The Help perfectly. A lot better than I could explain. Just do me a favor and read about it a little, people.
